November 15th

This has been a great day. Just because it is Sunday and we have the great opportunity to go to church and feel of the spirit there. It was a great Sunday. Sacrament meeting was a High Councilmen and his son who just returned from a mission awhile ago. They did a super job. One story that I want to remember is to listen to the still small voice that is with you that cautions you to do the right thing. The story was told of a young lady that spent a lot of time a long distance from her home with some friends. It was usually on weekends and she usually spent the night. But on a particular night she decided to drive home. As she got on the freeway. The still small voice whispered, "Don't take 215 stay on I-80" As she approached the junction to separate the 2 lanes she was again warned, but she did not heed the warning. As she approached the freeway there were 2 people standing in the middle of the 2 street junction waving their arms. She had no choice but to stop, or she would kill one of them. As she did she was concerned. Both of her doors were locked so she just sat their. The girl and guy each approached her front windows and started to bang on them. The guy was at the passenger's side beating on the window. All of a sudden the window was smash and splattered all over. The guy had a gun and started shooting. Luckily the girl was warned again and put her foot on the gas peddle and got out of there. After a few minute's she looked down and blood was running down her arm. When she got far enough away she pulled over and called her Dad. He called 911 and they got an ambulance there. She had been shot 4 times. Once in the wrist, once in the knee cap, the hip and the shoulder. They called the police. The people were found and arrested. The girl is doing great now. But has gone through a lot. Physical therapy, a therapist and other things. This particular person that spoke to us was a police officer, and so he knew the story. But I learned a lot from this. When we pray, we need to listen. We also need to listen to that still small voice that will protect us. It was a good lesson for all to hear. We enjoyed the rest of the meetings and other speakers. Later we went to choir practice. Had a great supper with a lot of our children around. You kind of forget your problems when you are around those you love. It was a wonderful day.
